"Splitsville," noun, Slang. The termination of a relationship, especially a romantic or sexual one. Rowan Howe and Jacob Mattingly have been partners. Now they are not. They like each other, but not always. Actually, they often get on each other's nerves. Rowan called me a few days ago and said, "I really don't think I can have the show with Jacob; it is one of those periods where we can't do anything together." I told Rowan that it would be unfair to get rid of Jacob now. She agreed.

So here they are, together, showing their works at The Car Wash, disliking each other just the right amount.

The show consists of paintings. For me-images-I have seen on my phone, but there is almost no difference today between paintings and images; maybe now you are reading this text on your phone, so here you go.

These paintings-these images-want to be seen and want to see you. So go see the show. What do images want? All images want to be alive. Painful images, boring images, neurotic images, inner images. That's their torment and desire. Rowan Howe and Jacob Mattingly work with these kinds of images. You won't necessarily like the paintings-these images-but at least you won't forget them immediately. - Donato
